Report

Rhacca travelled to a windswept Lliswerry looking for a place in the last four of the Senior Bowl. With skipper Hutch away doing a charity bungee jump ( nearly ) and Johnsy serving the last game of his ban we re-jigged slightly. With Grant back in goal,Tony slotted in with Matthew to replace Hutch in a back four flanked by Jamie & Tom.Grant replaced Johnsy in midfield with Dan with Jake & Beaver out wide - Luke & Jake Mac up top completed the line up.
The first 20 minutes were controlled by the conditions with the ball ping ponging around-we were getting some joy in behind their backline though and our back four once again looked strong snuffing out all danger. We gradually started to boss midfield with Grant & Dan breaking up anything Liswerry did and feeding Jake & Beaver - this paid off when Jake got the ball out wide, played in Jake Mac who burst past the fullback to cross for Luke to finish in style to make it 1-0! By now we were all over them with the ball being played out from the back with Jamie & Jake in particular looking dangerous every time they got the ball. Our pressure finally paid off when Jake Mac was put through by Luke to make it 2-0! We could have been out of sight by halftime as we created plenty of good chances but didnt put them away.
The 2nd half was a battle against the wind but we defended well despite gifting them a soft goal to make the scoreline look respectable - on a different day Mac,Dan,Luke,Jamie & Ed would all have got goals as we continued to counter well on the break! Game ended 2-1 and a place in the semi finals in April is ours - great result that was thoroughly deserved and our run of good performances continues - well played lads, should be very pleased with yourselves!!
