First game of the month due to the poor weather recently and Cwmcarn arent really the team you want to play after so long without a game - BUT the sun was out,playing down the Bryn with nearly a full squad and confidence high!!
First gremlin of the day was no Grant following the birth of his baby boy so Tony went in goal - apart from that it all looked ok.The first half was a series of frustrations of no talking,poor passing and nasty bobbles as you could probably expect after 4 weeks off - the only plus was that it ended scoreless without Cwmcarn threatening in the final third despite having the lions share of possession and winning most 50/50s.
Half-time and no ranting - forget the first half and get the ball down to play OUR game was the simple teamtalk.The 2nd half started in a similar fashion as the 1st but a slight tweak 15 minutes in changed all that - Tommo on and a tactical change later we were flying! Midfield looked more solid,wide guys more involved and back four looked very solid - finally playing it out from the back and making them chase around the pitch.
We took the deserved lead with a beautifully crafted move down the left hand side that led to Luke crossing to the back post after beating several players for Beaver to head back across goal to Dan White who finished by smashing the ball into the roof of the net - 1-0! Cwmcarn started to wilt with passes going astray and resorting to the long ball which we dealt with comfortably with Hutch & Matthew winning everything.
Great work by Jamie down the left side again led to Jake Mac scoring his 47th goal in 62 games ( at the 2nd bite of the cherry!! ) and it was effectively game over - with Rhacca counter attacking at will for the last ten minutes as Cwmcarn were by now out on their feet.
A well deserved win and a much needed confidence booster going into our quarter final next week - more of the same please chaps!!
