Saturday 14th September 2002 - the day the revolution started!!
26 Mar 2008

The club was started in 2002 initially as a vehicle to keep a bunch of 13 year olds out of trouble.Billy Nicholls and Rob Bailey grabbed the bull by the horns and attempted to pass on their considerable football knowledge onto these lads - how hard could it be ???

At the end of the first season we knew how hard it would be because we played 30 games, lost 30 games, scored 30 goals and conceded 353 goals!!

The lads loved it and bounced back for more every week so we embarked on coaching courses and made sure they enjoyed playing. No emphasis was placed on winning-just having fun-which was just as well!!

The lads were playing against teams that had been together for years and most of them had never played football before so teaching positions was entertaining.

Our second season was at Under 15 led to a marginal improvement as we played 27,lost 27,scored 22 but only conceded 248 - a 100 goal improvement!!

On 26 September 2004 something finally clicked.....we won our first game after 61 attempts!! We beat Caerphilly Cannons in the Cup 4-2 with Kristian Sullivan scoring a hat-trick.The event was covered by the South Wales Echo and even made the BBC website.

The following week - the same thing happened.... a win in the Cup!! we had finally turned the corner.....until Llantrisant beat us 11-1 in the league the next week!

Steady improvements were made and the third season ended with our first league point - played 26 won 2 drew 1 lost 23 scored 38 conceded 155 - another 100 goal improvement.

Our 4th season started with an unbeaten run of 4 league games and our first ever clean sheet - a coaches dream!!The team had definitely turned the corner and were combining having fun with playing good football.

By the end of the season they had played 25 won 6 drew 7 lost 12 scored 58 conceded 69 to finish a very respectable mid-table.

The club decided to take the players into the South Wales Youth League rather than expose them to senior football too young - a move that proved to be inspired!

Our first game was at the mighty Merthyr Tydfil - 90 minutes later we had been mauled 9-1 and we were thinking what have we done??

The second game gave us some relief as we beat Penrhos 12-1 before embarking on a roller coaster of a learning curve - playing against good quality teams every week. The season finished with us in mid table having aquitted ourselves fairly well.

During the off season, the club launched their very own Fitness Suite which consists of multigym, cross trainers, rowing machines, recumbent cycling machines and a treadmill. This is based in our local community centre and is staffed by qualified, volunteer instructors.

The 2007/8 season duly arrived and we entered our first ever season in senior football in the Newport & District AFL Division 2.

After an indifferent start,we don't look too shabby - promotion to Division 1 is guaranteed at the first attempt and Champions to boot.

The 2008/9 season saw us competing in the 1st Division and starting the 2nd team.A great pre-season and good start to the league campaign followed before serious injuries to key players slowed the progress. Before the season started we would have taken a midtable finish for both teams, but we got through to the last 16 of the LSPL Cup,won the inaugural 'Seamus Lee Cup' and the 1sts gained promotion at the first attempt to the Premier Division, two promotions in two seasons!
The 2010/11 season saw us playing in the Premier Division with our eyes wide open and ready for a big push for promotion to the Gwent County League,we started well and finished well but a mid season 'wobble' meant we finished the season in 5th place!!We set a few team records on the way-most wins, most points and most goals scored so plenty of positives to build on.

The 2011/12 season saw us playing in the Premier Division and  competing in the Amateur Cup and the FAW Trophy - after some upheaval we bounced back with a 5th place league finish and competed in our first Cup Final - the Dennis Herbert Senior Bowl. The icing on the cake was finally getting pitch barriers installed and the changing rooms re-vamped with the help of Groundwork,Transform your Patch and Robbie Savage visiting.

The 2013/14 sees us once again competing in the Premier Division,WelshCup,FAW Trophy,Amateur Cup and the League Cups with a renewed optimism and the ground criteria in place to push for promotion to Gwent County status one day.............the revolution continues!!
